The Andersons, Inc. Files Air Permit for Potential Ethanol Plant

The Andersons, Inc. today announced it has submitted the appropriate requests for an air permit in preparation for a potential ethanol plant to be constructed in Crestline, Ohio.

As a part of its thorough site selection process, the Company is considering a location adjacent to an existing elevator in this central-Ohio community. The elevator is owned by Country Star Co-op, a locally owned grain marketing and farm supply cooperative with 460 members, serving Crawford and surrounding counties.

"We are in the preliminary stages of this project and this location is among several under consideration by the Company," explains Neill McKinstray, Vice President & General Manager for Ethanol.

Recently The Andersons announced site preparation has begun on a potential ethanol plant in Greenville, Ohio, which would produce 110 million gallons of ethanol annually and could be operational as soon as the first quarter of 2008.

The facility under consideration in Crestline would be of a comparable size and be constructed on a similar timetable. The project is subject to approval by The Andersons Board of Directors.

Currently, The Andersons, Inc. is the manager of, and the largest individual investor in, The Andersons Albion Ethanol LLC, a 55-million gallon facility opened in August, and The Andersons Clymers Ethanol LLC, a 110- million-gallon facility scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2007. The Andersons also is a minority equity investor in Iroquois Bio- Energy Company, LLC, a 40-million-gallon facility in Rensellaer, Indiana scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2007.
